Ear Acupuncture
Ear acupuncture, also known as auricular therapy, stems from Traditional Chinese Acupuncture techniques where needles are inserted into specific points to help relieve various ailments.
While traditional acupuncture has existed for thousands of years, ear acupuncture has only been developed in detail within the past 75 years. It originally started in France in 1957, but there are also renowned schools of ear acupuncture in Germany and China and their own techniques.
The original idea of ear acupuncture arises from the theory that the shape of the ear resembles the shape of the fetus in the cephalic (head down/normal) position. Therefore, the parallel transfer of the topography of organs and parts of the body to the ear determined the actual location of the ear acupuncture points.
The reality is that the ear is anatomically linked through the brain to the entire body. Thus, stimulating a particular spot on the ear will result in affecting the complementary portion of the body.
An easy example is that the bottom portion of one's ear near the lobe is related to one's head, while the top part of one's ear is connected to the feet.
The ear contains all of the body's acupuncture points, and is even considered to include more detailed anatomical connections. Ear acupuncture can be also used both independently, and incorporated with other acupuncture modalities.
The ear acupuncture technique can also vary from placing different acupuncture needles to sun-dried herbal seeds.
“I am amazed at what one year seeing Dr. Arkadiy has done for helping me manage an autoimmune disease.
“I am staying on a low-level medication and feel better after every visit. My abdomen can be touched without pain for the first time in seven years. I leave each session incredibly relaxed and am amazed at how he can pinpoint my issues and resolve them.
“I am very thankful for acupressure and acupuncture with Dr. Arkadiy. I never would have imagined how impactful these sessions could be.”
